Major Recall in Israel on ‘Super Beef’ Short Ribs February 01, 2026
The Chief Rabbinate recalled "Super Beef" Asado products imported from Paraguay for failure to do proper treiboring (removal of the fat) on the back of the ribs. Thousands of kilograms of beef containing distributed to supermarkets, butcher shops, and event halls across the country were recalled.
The alert specifically targets the popular "Super Beef" brand (Mehadrin Glatt), imported by "Of Jerusalem". The products effected are Frozen Premium Beef Asado (Short Ribs) "Super Beef," UPC barcode #7290002516798, and Processed Beef Asado with Bone, UPC barcode #7290002298724 for export. These products are certified by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and the second on also is certified by the Jerusalem Rabbinate.
These meats are produced at Frigomark (Asuncion, Paraguay).
Investigations reveal that the failure was not an isolated event but occurred in meat slaughtered over a two-year period, spanning from winter 2024 to winter 2026.
The Chief Rabbinate has issued a definitive ruling: “This produce must not be used without immediate re-treiboring by a certified expert (menaker).”

ESPEEZ Assorted Rock Candy on a Stick Pink Cherry and Purple Grape May Have Carmine January 15, 2026
The Orthodox Union certifies ESPEEZ Assorted Rock Candy on a Stick. However, the company recently began using carmine, a non-kosher coloring derived from insects, in two flavors: Pink Cherry and Purple Grape. Although the company quickly removed carmine from the formulae, some product containing carmine is already in the marketplace.
Consumers must check the ingredient panels on the Pink Cherry and the Purple Grape flavors to confirm that the word "carmine" does not appear. ESPEEZ products containing carmine are not kosher; ESPEEZ products without carmine are OU-certified.... read more |
Lieber’s Chanuka Dark Coins (24 count) Contain Mislabeled Packages December 18, 2025
The following Lieber’s product, certified by Rabbi Menachem Meir Weissmandl, contains some mislabeled chocolates: Lieber’s Chanuka Dark Coins (24 Bags, 0.63 oz., 18g, Net wt. 15.12 oz., 432g). Some of the bags of chocolate coins found inside these packages marked "Pareve" bear labels saying “Lieber’s Chanuka Milk Coins” and the word “DAIRY” on them, as well as the UPC code for the dairy variety. However, the coins found inside those bags are stamped “Kosher Pareve” in both Hebrew and English on silver foil, the sign that indicates that they are indeed pareve. (In contrast, the dairy coins are wrapped in gold foil and say "Kosher- Cholov Yisroel"). Corrective actions are being implemented.... read more |
